seriously...

just finished watching the notebook. i cry. hard. every time.

I can only handle watching it once, maybe twice, a year. can't take anymore. the sad thing is, in every single one of N.S.'s books, i bawl my eyes out. to the point where I have to put the book down because I can't see. I keep going back to his books even though I know I will be worn out by the end of them.

productive weekend!

Even though we weren't able to go to Vegas, I did get a lot accomplished this weekend. I got some much needed work done around the house and on Sunday we met up with the Pettijohn's for lunch in Lewisville, a trip tp Fry's to pick up some software for the computer and grocery shopping and hed the rest of the afternoon to work around the house. It was so beautiful and cool yesterday that I went out for a run and enjoyed the beautiful weather! Today, we are getting a phone line installed so I am forced to stay in the house on this oh so chilly morning and get more accomplished. Hopefully I will get to enjoy a late lunch with my mom as well! So even though we didn't have our long weekend in Vegas, I feel like I will be much less stressed out come next week when I have my surgery!

Enjoy the beautiful fall weather today!

Just as the leaves change...

...so does my hair!

I decided to go darker for the fall. I actually thought the color I dyed it would be a little darker so this is pretty close to my natural color these days. I think I might wait a couple weeks and go even a shade darker. Not quite sure how I feel about it yet, but I don't love or hate it!

The Friends with the smoke alarm...

Last night at about 11:30 my smoke alarm started to beep...every 45 seconds. The bad part, Hubs was at work so it was me, my dogs and the house. I know nothing about changing smoke detector batteries. In fact I originally called our home alarm people because we had had problems with that beeping in the past. After 20 minutes he informed me that it was the alarm and it was something else. He made me feel quite dumb but that's ok. I really don't get embarrassed easily (I like to think). So I pull out our 6ft ladder and get an old spoon to pry off the cap. My dog barked every time it beeped so between her and the beeping I about went insane. I was at the very top of the ladder where I could barley reach our ceilings, prying with everything I had in me. I couldn't get the dang thing off. I really wanted to just rip the thing out of the ceiling and throw it outside. My problem with that is that I couldn't get it off!! I called hubs and my dad and still couldn't get it off. My solution: close my door, turn the tv on and up very loud and try to sleep until hubs came home from work to do it! My Friend Elaine, who is also a Friend's fanatic, reminded me of the episode where Phoebe tried to get her smoke alarm to stop beeping ! If any of you have seen that episode, You can picture what I was trying to do! I was pounding on it with my spoon, prying it as much as I could, nearly falling off the ladder and sweating like crazy. It was quite humorous.

The really funny part, I was messing with the wrong little alarm thingy!! We have about 5 different things on our ceiling that look like the smoke detector. I had decided it was between the two but apparently the one that I thought was the alarm was the one I should have been messing with!! AHH! Thank the Lord for my wonderful husband!

a great find!

Last month I was at Sam's and they had a section by the front door with all kinds of big pottery. I saw a vase that I really loved and we decided we would come back another day to purchase it. The next time we went in they had NO POTTERY left! It had all been sold in a matter of days. I gave up on it after checking a couple of other Sam's. A week or two later, I was shopping with my mom at a Sam's by her house and low and behold... my vase was there!! They had great prices from big planters for $13 to my big beautiful vase for $60!!! I got it and it goes perfectly in our home! It was a great price for such a big piece. I am probably going to get some rather tall, wooden sticks to stick in it but for now, nothing in it will be fine. I got it:-)
