Fall is finally here and a Baylor game!

While temps are still in the low 90s on some days, the mornings have been absolutely amazing here! We kicked off the first weekend of fall with lots of time outdoors and I made a trip to Waco with my dad to watch the Baylor game on Saturday. Something I haven't done since I was there in 2002, and at that time we weren't a winning team. In fact, I think Pat Neff was only light up green once during the two football seasons I was down there.  So it was a lot of fun going to a game and actually winning:)

We played ULM and our mascot dressed up as one of the duck dynasty guys;) a show our house absolutely loves!

We drove around campus after the game. I haven't been back through probably since 2005. So much has changed! But I drove by my old dorm, favorite coffee shop, old apartment {shout out to the ninnies!} and even my parents first house, which is still there and happened to be right across the street from where I lived. 

It was a fun day and I'm glad I got to have some one on one time with my dad!

High School Reunion

This past weekend was jam- packed with seeing old HS peeps. Some we've kept up with, others we haven't seen since his  graduation. I actually didn't get very many pictures. We were so busy chatting, my camera was in the back of my mind.

We started off Friday night at the Berkner football game. I can't tell you the last time I went to a high school game. I of course got to see the drill team preform,{ hours upon hours of my life were dedicated to that world} I was sad not to see the "traditional" field uniform but was a little jealous that they no longer had to sit on those bare, hard and uncomfortable bleachers. They now had a "chair" with cushion and back support! Must be nice!! haha!

We left the game right after half-time and headed to the House of Blues. I was so impressed with the turn out! I think there were around 230 people! Insane for a class reunion! I think Brooke and LeighAnne were so smart to make it a laid-back/casual reunion and it was AFFORDABLE { unlike some reunions in the past that paid $75/ticket and made it formal, this was just $15-20 per person plus drinks on  Friday. Saturday was open bar!}I can  only hope mine will be like that! We we closed down HOB and got home that night at 3:00am! I can't tell you the last time I stayed out that late! I don't do late very well! haha!!

Saturday we we made our way to Dukes for Happy Hour. What was supposed to be a couple of hours, turned into about 4.5. After Duke's we headed over to one of his oldest  friend's to watch the UFC fight. Another late night but what a fun day!

I know the hubs had such a great time talking to so many different people. He was the type that didn't have just ONE group of friends. He literally was friends with everyone. If you know my husband, you know how much he LOVES talking to people and hearing their stories. To him, everyone is important and we made sure to try to talk to everyone! One of the great things I love about my man!!  I know he wishes he had more time- we didn't talk to everyone he would have liked,  but I think he made the rounds as best as he could!

5 years...

5 Years ago today I was asked to marry the love of my life! It's hard to believe that much time has gone by! I think it's time we head back to Italy to celebrate! Maybe one day, perhaps on our 10 year anniversary?!

He proposed here, on a balcony over looking the little town square in Cortona, Tuscany. It was perfect!

We celebrated afterwards at a little pizza place in town. It had a red and white checkered table cloth , those crunchy bread sticks in a tin and dinner by candle light. Perfect, romantic Italian meal to end the day to a perfect, romantic proposal!

We had a wonderful time with our Pettijohn family of three! It was a challenge getting there since we flew standby, but after 4 plane, 5 cities and 16.5 hours in airports/planes, we made it! We finally got to Pitt around 10:30 and I was so excited to see that black Yukon driving up to get us! Unfortunately, PA had the highway down to one lane the whole way to their house and it took us a little over 2 hours (for a 20 min ride) to get there. We didn't get to meet Hudson that night, but we peeked in and seeing that sweet baby brought tears to my eyes

Friday was a great day. We woke up to sweet baby talk and lots of smiles, we met JR for lunch, Hudson took a good hour long nap on my chest, Nat and I made homemade peach cobbler and lasagna for dinner, and enjoyed some good time catching up.




Saturday we headed out to Seven Springs where one of their friends has a cozy, little cabin that he and his brother built. It was beautiful up there. All the leaves were changing and falling to the ground. The weather was perfect and sunny and all you could here were the leaves swaying in the wind. PERFECTION! We went for a little drive around the area, guys in one car and Nat, Hudson and I in the other. The scenery was B-E-A-utiful! When we got back the guys went outside, shot some guns and chopped down a tree for a bonfire that night. Nat and I stayed in playing with baby and had some girl time.















Saturday night we had a big bonfire and made s'mores, laughed a lot and enjoyed a cool evening outside in PA.








Sunday we headed back to Wexford to get ready, put dinner in the crock pot and head out for a hayride and pumpkin picking at the local farm market, Shenot's. I so wish we had farm markets here in DFW! I would do all of our produce shopping. Everything is so much better and fresh, fresh, FRESH! We headed out for the hayride, got to pick out a freshly picked apple {yummm}, and made our way past the orchards, pepper gardens and out to the pumpkin patch. We even got to sample some homemade apple cider that they make on site!! We headed thru a corn maze and finally out to pick out some pumpkins for their house.




























I think we walked a lot because the further you went, the bigger and better the pumpkins were. It got to the point where Nat and I stayed back and let the guys go find the "perfect pumpkins"

They got 4 good ones and picked 3 to take home. We bought some apple cider and homemade fudge to take back with us.




After Shenot's, we headed to Soergels, another local farm market, and got some homemade apple butter. That night we enjoyed a yummy dinner in and made another batch of peach cobbler.






After dinner we watched as mom and dad gave their sweet boy a bath then Nat and I went in to his room to read. I brought a special little book and got to read it to him. It was a surreal and sweet moment that I got to share with my best friend and her baby.

It was so neat for us to see two people so dear to us become such wonderful parents. It was an emotional trip as I got to see one of my childhood friends care for her own child; become a mommy. Nat and JR, we love you and are so happy for the little family the Lord has blessed you with. Thank you for letting us become a part of it this weekend. We sure do love little Hudson and can't wait to see how this chapter in your lives unfolds. You are wonderful, special friends and we love you three so very much!
