A Day at The Beach

We don't live anywhere close to an actual beach, but we made our way to Lake Granbury just an hour south-west for a day at their city "beach" with some friends. It was a gem of a  little beach with great sand! We headed out Friday morning after breakfast in hopes to avoid the crowds that would likely be there on Saturdays. Luckily for us, temps were ridiculous that day so the beach wasn't crowded at all! We even snagged one of their little tiki huts with a picnic table and were able to have some shade. In the water, it was pleasant and didn't feel nearly as hot as the 105 degrees that it was.

We packed a picnic lunch and a few toys to play with in the sand and spent a majority of the day pretending we were relaxing by crystal waters with a little umbrellaed-fruity drink in hand. I don't think umbreallaed is a word, but it is today:)

It was nice to have peaceful day away from the house/work and with great company!
AND It was C's first trip to the beach!

I'm sure we will make our way there again!  And if you're close to Granbury, you should check it out:)

Five on Friday

Linking up again with the girls for Five on Friday!

ONE- I hosted a Coffee and Dessert night for my church girls last night! It was a lot of fun and we ate a lot! At least, I did! I sent out a little invitation that I made with my My Memories Software. I cropped my address out.

Made a fun little chalkboard for the occasion.
 Thanks to Pinterest, I made a party favor mug for the girls to use and take home with their initials:) {got to use my new sharpie}
TWO-I'm obsessed with trail mix. I haven't had any in a while and caved while at Aldi, shopping hungry. Oops!
THREE- we met CeCe for dinner at Chick-Fil-A. Their new salads are yummo! And this kid had his first kids meal {he usually just eats off mine} and put away 4 grilled nugs, apple sauce, apple juice and almost half of a pbj that I brought with us. On and one of CeCe's strawberries off her salad. Oh, I'm afraid I won't be able to keep up with his big stomach!!

FOUR- I'm loving this rainy weather! It's making me want to curl up and finish one of the 75,920 books I've started and haven't finished during the remainder of C's morning nap!

FIVE-  We have a full weekend planned with family. Hopefully seeing my dad tonight, celebrating my SIL and the Hub's birthdays tomorrow and swimming at my in-laws on Sunday.

Happy Weekend!

Our life right now

Summer time is officially here! We've tried to soak in some pool time every week. It's the only way I can stand being outside, otherwise I melt! We've gotten to spend sometime swimming with friends and I just discovered one of the pools in our neighborhood has a little splash pad! Woohoo!! {I now know why people get disposable swim diapers instead of reusable. I may have officially decided to convert to disposables! Nasty}

I haven't been able to go to my boot camp after the second class because a 30+ lb folded, heavy duty table fell out of the back of my car onto my toe and it's all shades of black and blue. I am finally able to bend it some, but it sill hurts to put any pressure on. I was hoping to pause my classes and start back up once it felt ok to run/jump on, but it's not looking like that will happen. Maybe I can get at least the last week/week and a half of classes in before it expires. I really liked it so far, just wish I was getting the full benefit of a month straight.

The hubs and C have taken several walks to the park, but it's hot y'all! I wish the swings were covered like the playground is.

My child eats like a grown man. No lie!! Even my friend was stunned at the amount he put away tonight.  For dinner alone he had:
1 strawberry, 8 blueberries, 1/2 a Roma tomato, almost two  English muffin pizzas {Sweet P didn't want hers after a couple of bites, so C ate her half}, about 10 pieces of shell mac and cheese, probably 10-15 peas AND a few small pieces of chicken.  Followed shortly by 6 oz of milk before bed!   **he did have  healthy lunch of chicken, peas and carrots**  He's the real life Hungry Caterpillar!!   No wonder it's his favorite book!:)

The other day the girls in our small group got together for breakfast and coffee at Panera. I'm thinking it may have to be a regular happening this summer:) This was minus 2 babes:

This summer is quickly filling up with play dates, birthday parties, family time and little projects I have my mind on.

Here's to sweet summertime!

Cowtown Goes Green 2013

Since it was a gorgeous day today {and a smidge too warm}we decided to head down to the Stockyards for the first time as a family of 3, with some friends to check out their Cowtown Goes Green festivities. Despite the fact that traffic getting down there was ridiculous, we had a good time. I was telling the hubs that I wouldn't fare well at the lower Greenville parade. Way too many peeps in one space for my liking. The stockyards were really crowded but it wasn't too insane. We stopped in the little petting zoo, knowing our little animal lover would get a kick out of seeing the animals. We were right. His grin says it all!

The parade wasn't anything special and we missed seeing the cattle drive, but it was a fun afternoon with friends. One night we will go back down, walk around and enjoy dinner when its not so crowded!

October rewind...Oktoberfest and the State fair

We met our small group out at Oktoberfest at the beginning of October. It was the first cold day of the year and I think we were all excited about that. Plus, being with friends, beer, funnel cakes and dinner at Mi Cocina, what more could you ask for?! NADA!  Except we could have done without the putrid smell that MiCo leaves on your clothes and baby carrier...gag!!

We also took C to the State Fair for the first time! Last year it's where we told my dad we were pregnant. Crazy that it's been a year and we were talking about how he'd be 4 months old the following year. Hard to believe that has come and gone!! We went the night before poor old Big Tex bit the dust so I'm glad we got his picture with the original:)  He was so good and such a happy little guy the whole time, until we were on our way home. We had the Fried buffalo chicken in a flapjack- YUMMO!!
Tried and LOVED the Mexican firecrackers, had some pineapple ice cream, roasted corn and a few bites of a funnel cake! Next year he will get a taste of some of the fried yumminess;)

First Pumpkin Patch

I have so much to catch up on here. From his 3- soon to be 5 month updates, first trip to the fair, first battle with a cold {currently recovering from} and my bro and future sister-in-law's engagement/party:). A lot has been happening around here. BUT to start with, our trip to the pumpkin patch...

For three years now we have ventured out to Hall's Pumpkin Farm in Colleyville/Grapevine with some of our favorite people, The Bass'. The first year, no babies. Last year, they had a 3 month old and we told them we were expecting (I held a big pumpkin in front of my belly and asked the hubs if he thought I would be "this big" soon) and this year their sweet P was 15 1/2 months and C, 4 1/2 months. It's a tradition that will continue for years to come.

Oh my, so in love with this face. How can you resist that smile!??!

One of my favorite family pics so far:)

and those eyes...

probably one of my most favorite pictures yet!

Baby shower May 5th

Some of the most important people in my life threw the sweetest shower for Cruz and I on May 5th. Each of these girls has been a rock for us and a faithful prayer partner during our bout with infertility. They kept my spirits high, were shoulders for me to cry on, friends to laugh and dream with and most importantly, helped me keep my faith in the one who gives us these miracles.

Not sure why, but my camera decided to pick up yellow tones. So I'm only uploading a few of the many I have.

Cruz's grandmothers and great grand mothers:)

It was such a wonderful day and I felt so loved and honored that these are some of the friends I've been blessed with. Every detail was so perfect and I know it took a lot of planning and time from each sweet friend. Thank you for blessing and loving our little family:)  You have no idea how special that day was!
