Hard to say goodbye...

On Tuesday, July 20 we had to say goodbye to our very first baby. Our sweet, sweet Tiger Bear. Words can't express how deeply we miss him. It was a gut-wrenching experience and I truly hope none of you have to go through it anytime soon. It was very sudden and unexpected and our sweet bubba has left our hearts hurting.

Our house is so quiet now. We miss his snoring. His big paws. The way he shakes his head in a circle if you talk in a sweet, high pitched voice. The way he laid his head on our knees while we were on the couch. I miss how he liked to lick my feet. I miss how you could cuddle with him. When he would try to get in between me and my book, laying his head and paw on my arm. How he slept with his tongue out and I ALWAYS had to touch it. The way the hubs would pick him up, like holding a baby on his hip. I miss how he would scratch his chin by running his head on his paw in a circle. How he would paw at your leg until you said hi to him. I even miss his little {but loud} toots that made me laugh so hard I would cry.

It's so hard to say goodbye to our furry baby who loved and was loved unconditionally. I'm sad that he won't be around when we have kids, he was so sweet with babies and loved them! We miss you sweet Tiger bear and cherish the wonderful 8 1/2 years of memories!

snotty dog noses?!

It looks like all three of our pups have colds right now. It started off with just the girls, but Tiger got it last night. All three are sneezing and have snotty noses. I didn't even know that was possible! I feel so bad! They look like they don't feel that well and all I can do is wipe their noses. Anyone know of an OTC medicine that I can give to them?? They already get Benadryl daily.

On another note...The Rose's should be having little Caedmon any time now!!! They went to the hospital last night to be induced so now, we wait! Say a prayer for them as they go through the next couple of days. We can't wait to see that precious boy!

White Wednesday...

It's December 2nd. It's cold, I'm drinking coffee with gingerbread creamer and IT'S SNOWING!!!!!!!!

Ahhhhh...Love this time of year. Chloe seems to like the snow too. She had her first experience out in it this morning and I think she tried to eat our whole back yard!

one year...

One year ago today I lost my childhood pup. It's a sad day and I am missing him. It's hard to believe a year has gone by. I am thankful that I had 16 wonderful years with him! Something about the love of a pet just makes it worth going thru something as hard as losing one.

dog park...

Yesterday was such a nice, cool day that we decided to go spend sometime at a local dog park. We loaded all three pups into the car and hit the park for two hours of doggy fun. Tiger tends to be the dog that would rather sit by any person before making new dog friends. He even manages to pull himself up on benches or picnic tables and sits by whoever will let him!

We originally started taking them to the dog park so that we could socialize Daisy a little more. She loves people, but dogs are another story! She has gotten so much better that now she lets other dogs come up to her and never barks. She's learned to be nice to everyone! We still keep her on a leash and will until we feel pretty confident that she won't do a surprise attack on a dog. YIKES!

Chloe is our social butterfly and loooooved making new puppy friends! Towards the end my dad brought up his dog and socializing him went better than we thought. He didn't like Chloe at first, but seemed to become friends after about 15 minutes of nipping and barking. They chased and played and by three o'clock, all were tired.
On the way home we got to see a little airshow that is done about 15 miles from our house. Goo Blue Angels! They flew right above our house!!

I sold some clothes to Plato's Closet on Sunday, so we took that money and bought Chloe her own bed and Daisy, a new one!! Only the best for our pups =) I love green right now and Sam's had a great price!

when we first brought Chloe home, she wasn't quite sure how to bark. She even sounds like a baby sometimes. Her bark has improved, but I still love some of the funny little noises she makes. Sometimes we hold her a certain way, just so we can hear her "cry". Is that terrible?! haha

... Miss Chloe Neaves...

on June 10th we were blessed to become the proud parents of another, sweet bulldog puppy. The best part, we met a lady the week before the 10th that was originally selling the pups and for some reason, she decided she didn't want to sell them and instead, give them away to good homes. We got her completely free along with a crate, food bowl and food! I just couldn't pass up this sweet little girl!

Yes, we now have 3 bulldogs!! We sure do love our bullies!!

The reason it's taken me so long to announce this is because Hubs didn't want to tell his parents over the phone, he wants to show her to them in person. We aren't going over there until tomorrow for father's day, so they still don't know yet. So Mimi (or anyone else who goes to church with them, don't mention anything to them, they don't know yet! )

She's definitely 100% puppy. She's done really well with potty training but the girl chews like no other.

Sorry I've been slacking on my posting. Having a new puppy is tough. Eyes on them alllll the time! I promise I'll try to post more often!

Since we have two pups, it means we pay for two of everything. Getting their nails cut is pretty expensive and come to think of it, I could get a manicure two times each time we take them in to get theirs trimmed. We have tried petsmart/petco and even though they are cheaper, for some reason they never cut them as short as the vets do. I think we pay about$16 for each dog. That adds up! We decided, after recommendations from my mom and others, that we would try out the pedipaw. We got it at Bed, Bath and Beyond for $19.99 but I had a $5 off coupon so I paid $15 for it. That's one nail trim. We used it and it works! Our dogs usually freak out when they get their nails cut and they didn't with this. It does take a little more time, but it is worth it! We turned it on to get them used to the noise and after a couple minutes, it didn't bother them!

So for those of you with dogs, I highly recommend it!

my day off...

Since I have been a little under the weather the past week I decided that today, on my day off, I was just going to take it easy. I woke up at 9 (late for me), did a little around the house, painted while watching a movie, ate lunch with the hub then decided I would lay out in the back yard on our hammock and read...prefect day! my nap/reading on the hammock was disturbed by a sweet little puppy of mine. Daisy always wants to get on the hammock if anyone is on it. She thinks it's hers!! She joined me for a little bit then jumped off to lay in the shade. On the second round, she took a flying leap up and in seconds I found myself on the ground. The stitching holding the hammock to the metal broke! Oops! We have had it for almost 3 years and I guess we should have stored it in the garage during the months that its too cold to enjoy. Looks like I will be searching for a replacement. Hopefully I can find one as comfortable as this one! Now, I guess I will just bake some cookies...ahhh I love days off!!

This past weekend, we ventured out to canton with my dad in search for a new puppy. He has been wanting another dog since Prince was put down, so we decided to look thenow was the time. (Plus I ahve become really good at talkng people into buying puppies!!) We found a really good breeder and a really great little boy. He is so cute, cuddly and has the most precious little personality. His name is still being decided, but he is a healthy 3.2 pound fur ball! Congrats on your new puppy, dad!!

Boo Boo's Buddies Park...

Last Sunday we took our pups to the dog park. We have never taken them before and we are trying to socialize Daisy a little more. She is pretty protective and super hyper around other people. We spent 1 1/2 hours there and the second half of our time was really great. Daisy seems to have learned a lot. We plan on taking them once a week. Tiger is always great with other dogs and people so he just had fun playing! It was a beautiful day and was nice to send some time outside!

This week started off horrible. On Monday I got a text from my mom that the vet thought it was time to put my childhood dog down. I knew this would come sooner or later but I wasn't expecting it this soon. I saw him the week before and he had lost a lot of weight and within that week he had gone down hill so fast. His kidneys were starting to shut down and the vet thought there might be some other problems. I couldn't believe the time was here. I left work and headed to dallas to be with my mom, dad and brother to put prince down. That was the hardest thing i have ever had to do. He was the sweetest dog and he lived a good, long life. He was two weeks away from his 16th birthday. I am still having a hard time with it and the rest of the family is too. I knew I'd be upset, but it's been even harder than I thought it would be. It sounds silly, but he was a part of our family. He was my first dog and random times throughout the day i just start to cry. I know it will get easier as time goes on but for now, I miss my sweet prince. We took a few last pics before we had to let him go...

I love finding our pups sleeping. Sometimes they make the cutest pictures. This is my favorite one of Tiger. The one of Daisy is just so she doesn't feel left out! haha!

So most you know that hubs loves big dogs and I, little! We came to the conclusion that when we get another dog in the future that it would be "my" dog. We compromised and decided that we would get a little french bulldog. They are a lot smaller than our dogs now and have precious little personalities! I want an all black one. Plus, it kinda makes up for me not being able to have a miniture pot belly pig!

I took Daisy back to the vet today and they were impressed with how well she is doing! She's very active for someone that just had knee surgery a week ago! They took her cast off and now her staples are showing for the world to see. I swear she has about 38. Of course, I took a picture. Did you really thing I wouldn't?! Here is her beautiful new knee...

Last night...

last night, we were on our way home and at about 9:30 we saw a dog walking around (on a busy street) with out an owner. ...A little background... we have seen quite a few dogs over the past two years walking around without anyone with them. We always try and drive up to it to see if it will come to us and we can look at the tags. Most of them run the opposite way and we can never get them. This one dog we saw did just that. The next day I still saw it out in a different area and tried unsuccessfully to get it and the next day it had been hit by a car and was on the side of the highway that runs near our neighborhood. That just broke my heart and I did all that I could to get the little guy, but a car got him instead. :-(



So back to last night...



we opened up our door and the little dog came right up and jumped up in my lap. We called the two numbers on his tags and one was for a vet in Hurst and the other was for the humane society in OK where he was adopted from and the lady we spoke to said this dog has gotten out quite a few times recently and they were talking about taking him back from the family. She gave us the owners name and we googled and found her cell phone number. No luck, her voice mail was full and she never answered. Next thought...we'll get directions and drive to the listed address. When we got there it happened to be the only house with lights on at 10:30. We were so excited when a man came to the door and we asked " is this your dog?" his answer...NO.He was nice even after someone came knocking on his door at 10:30 at night. Come to find out, he and his wife moved into that house in May but he did have the preivious owner's, husband's name and number. We call his phone and it rang a bunch but no luck. We DID get to leave a message for him on that but when we tried calling a few minutes later he had turned off his phone. So we left another message.



The only other thing we could think to do was to drive over to a 24 Southlake animal hospital and we figured they would definitely keep him there until the owners came to get him and just hand them a bill for his "nights stay" THEY wouldn't even take the poor dog in!! I couldn't believe the only open animal place wouldn't take in a dog that was lost. They said they would only allow injured dogs in. Stupid vet! Hubs then mentioned to me that the guy that lives in the owners house offered to take him in if we couldn't get a hold of the owner or if the hospital wouldn't take him in. We would have been fine letting him sleep in a cage in our garage but 1) we hate leaving dogs outside. We are inside dog people and 2) with Daisy already not liking other dogs and her being touchy with her recently fixed knee made it impossible for us to take him in for the night.



We called the friendly man that helped us and he told us to bring the dog back to their house and he would keep them until we/he could get a hold of the owner. They said the people across the street were still good friends with the owner of the dog and they thought that might be the best bet. Such a kind family to take in a dog that they had no responsibility for and not only help out the dog, but us as well!! We ended up getting home last night at 12:00. 2 1/2 hours we spent trying to help this poor dog find his parents who obviously don't care a lick about him!! I have not gotten a single call from the owner to say we got the dog or thank you for keeping him safe or anything. I'm just so sad for this dog, who was the sweetest thing, that his family doesn't care enough to give us a call back to see if he was okay or where he was. If you are in the DFW area and are looking for a home, do not use DFW Dave as your realtor...he is the owner of this poor dog!! Grrr...

Poor little thing...

I picked daisy up this afternoon after work and she is doing really well. She has a cast on the leg and a medicine patch on her side for pain meds. On her little cast they even applied a yellow Daisy! The vet here is so wonderful and personable. If you live in the Southlake area, Golden Triangle Animal Hospital is the way to go! ...nervous...

There are several reasons I am nervous today but the main reason is because I dropped our baby girl, Daisy off at the vet to have her knee surgery. I feel like I just dropped off our child. I was sad to leave her there knowing the kind of pain she will feel after her surgery and the time it will take for her to recover. I'm sad that she won't have her big brother to comfort her when they sleep at night and instead, she will be confined to a tiny, wire bottom cage with no blanket to sleep on! I know she will be fine, but she is our baby (since we don't have children right now). It's sad to me to think some people would just put their dogs down if they had to have an expensive surgery. I know a lot of times it's because of money. Even though we don't really have the money for the surgery, we found a way to make it happen! Praise the Lord!





I know, we spoil our dogs. Who doesn't?!

bad news bears...

UGH...I just got back from taking Daisy to the vet. She has had a bad limp since Saturday and it hasn't gotten any better. When she can she just uses 3 legs. We were afraid she tore her ACL again but were hoping for better news. She tore her right ACL back in 2005 and the vet warned us it could happen to the left. Well, it has! This little girl is getting expensive!! The vet told me today that we will have to have surgery on her left leg. Great, another $2,000 out the window. I'm hoping maybe I will win the lottery with out buying a ticket. Or maybe my trees will start growing cash?! I don't know where it will come from, but you do anything you can for your babies...or dogs! I think she is trying to compete with me on who can have the most knee surgeries. We will now be tied, 2 to 2.
