s'mores

We have a wintry treat that seems to have made a permanent residence at our house. For months now we have made s'mores a couple of nights a week! It's the perfect little dessert. No- we don't roast our marshmallows, just pop 'em in the microwave a few seconds and we're good to go! May not be quite as tasty as those who have a crisp, brown coat, but my mouth is happy either way!

Did you know there is a national s'more day?? Yup, August 10th! I think we will have a lot of national s'more days in our house!

Here's to s'mores any time of year!

Gone to the other side...

I never thought I would say this, but I'm starting to like birds. Not really the alive ones {still afraid they'll swoop in and attack}, but birds on things! haha!! I never thought the day would come. I am seeing some  cute things with cute birds on them!  Even my post below has 2 birds on the painting.

Here's to birdy things:)  Not too much bird, but a little

Whirlwind...

This weekend was crazy busy, but so much fun. A few of the highlights:

Saturday morning we headed out to Trinity Park in Ft. Worth for a 5k run with the Brock's. It was a beautiful day and perfect running weather. We finished ( I actually had to walk for about a minute due to a cramp) in just about 36 minutes. That's actually pretty fast for my little legs and my bad knees. I know that's slow to some, but I was proud!

Sunday morning we headed to Dallas. I dropped the hubs off at his parent's house, then headed over to the Wallace's to get ready for Katy's baby shower! It was so wonderful to see Katy pregnant for the first time (and only time before the little Rose Bud is born). She was beautiful, so happy and had the momma glow! I even got to feel baby kick! I have never felt anything like that before, it was so surreal! After all the guests left we got to have some QT with Katy and catch up a little on life. Oh how we miss you, Katy!! The time was so short, but I know everyone enjoyed seeing you and your sweet belly! You and Kristian are going to make incredible parents and I can't wait to meet that precious boy! **pictures to come, I didn't have my camera on me!!

I know I keep saying this, but I just can't believe November is here. It's the start of my favorite time of year. I think I'll list something on every post that I'm thankful for on that day! Cheese ball, maybe?! But its nice to appreciate the little blessings in life! :)

Thankful For: so thankful for the sun we've had instead of the rain! It's been beautiful lately! Thank you, Jesus!!!

I can't believe November is here. We had a really busy/fun weekend that I will update on later! It is NaBloPoMo so I should spread it out! I'm 3 days late but I'll try from here on out to say a little something every day:)

Happy Tuesday!

7 randoms...

~ I have never eaten a hot dog. EVER. The thought of them makes me gag! ick I'm not sure that I will ever try one.

~ I love the smell of books. Old or new, something about it gives me warm fuzzies! I'm also one who likes the smell of paper after it comes out of the Xerox machine! Weird, I know.

~ I have always thought it would be fun to own a quaint little coffee shop/cafe. {of course it's because we had the coolest one at Baylor! I heart Common Grounds!!} About 5 years ago I wrote out what I would or would not want in MY coffee house. I had a name and everything. Just don't think it would work out with all the Starbucks around. It came up in my thoughts today when I looked up a coffee shop around us and saw that it had closed. A girl can dream though...

~I think Archaeology is really interesting. If someone asked me to go on a dig, I would go in a heartbeat!

~ I can't stand thick paper-ish napkins. The one's that are almost cloth but still disposable. The one's they have a Cheddar's make my skin jump off my bones. I get gross chills.

~There's a spot on my head where I was attacked by a dog when I was 13. When I'm nervous or really thinking about things I tend to rub/pick at it. Not sure where that habit came from, but it's hard to stop. I go through months where I don't mess with it at all, other times it's daily or multiple times a day. In fact, thinking of some of my randoms made me go to "my spot" thus leading me to putting it as one of my randoms!

~I like eating with the "little" utensils. little spoons and little forks for me!! I also don't like my teeth to touch them.

there are some random facts for ya! yours???

semi- obsessed...

So I am terrified of sharks. TERRIFIED. On our honeymoon I wouldn't let Ricardo drive the jet ski too fast with me on the back. I was afraid he would fling me off into a nest of hungry sharks. I'm always hesitant to get in the ocean and constantly look around me to make sure I won't get attacked by one or a jelly fish. Don't get me wrong, I love the ocean and the beach. I'm just a fraidy-cat.

Everyone was talking about shark week on the discovery channel and I figured watching a little would help my fears and also prove my point to the hub, that sharks are INSANE!!

It definitely confirmed my fear and you won't see me in the ocean at Pensacola Beach, FL. The number 1 most dangerous ocean in the world. WHAT?!?!

This week of shark shows is fascinating! Absolutely one of the most interesting series of programming I have seen in a long time. Did you know a shark can smell 1 drop of blood from 500 meters away? ONE DROP!!!

They also have tons of these pores on their noses that can sense the electro-magnetic currents that humans, prey or other obstacles in their path put off from a distance. Nuts!

So if you haven't tuned in to Shark Week, you should! You will learn a lot!

more water please...

I'm just wondering if anyone else is like this...

I really do drink a ton of water all throughout the day. To the point where I literally have to go to the restroom probably at least 5 time during the work day. It's even worse at restaurants. I will at least go thru 3 glasses (a lot of times 4) of water during that ONE meal!! I think it makes it look much worse when my husband might (if he's really thirsty) drink 1/2 a glass. I don't know why, but I'm always wanting another sip. It's been like that since I was little. I know it's really good to drink tons of water, but I feel like it's all that I do. Drink water.

anyone else a guzzler?!

what to do?!

I'm off work today and it's the first day off in a while where I don't have a doctor's appointment, specific places to be or even have to go to Dallas for something. What to do with my time?!? I hope it will be a productive day, but I might just have a ME day. I want to go to the library and check out some books (**especially this low oxalate cookbook if I can find it), perhaps go to Target just for fun (haven't been in months!), go to the grocery store, workout, paint a little and maybe even lay out a little (if I'm feeling brave enough to get into my swimsuit in the daylight...eeek)

Oh to have choices today!!!

Happy Wednesday!!

**side note: the low oxalate diet isn't going so well. I have not eaten some foods and lessened my intake of others, but I really need to buy this cookbook specifically for this type of diet, other wise it's not going to happen!

I've had this version of amazing grace by Chris Tomlin in my head:
